Shoe designer extraordinaire. Chau Har Lee is a new name for your fashion rollerdex.
She combines traditional skills and craftmanship with a sense of new world materials and shoe design for the future.
Education
Central St Martin’s BA in shoe design and then a Masters at The Royal College of Art.
Achievements
Production assistant and maker of leather architectural interiors at Nicole Fahri – following garment through sampling, fittings, to production.
Part of shoe design team at Bally.
Launching her own avant-garde shoe label, Chau Har Lee, in 2009.
Receiving Royal College of Art Manolo Blahnik Award in 2009
Invited to show as part of Fashion East during London and Paris Fashion week.
Receiving New Gen sponsorship by British Fashion Council for 2011.
Currently working on
her 24/7 lifestyle. A day job at Bally making designs fit for the label’s heritage based DNA. And a night job, working on her own fierce, innovative and architectural designs made from walnut wood, stainless steel and plastic.
Objectives
to expand her own label - which aims to merge futuristic design with hints of nostalgia - through references to traditional shoemaking and observations of fast moving technology.
