Irish retailer A-Wear has begun the process of shutting down

its concession stands in department store House of Fraser, following its rescue plan after the brand fell into receivership last month.

A-Wear runs nine concessions in House of Fraser stores across the UK as well as online, which will continue selling the brand's collection until its current stock is depleted. The brand's own online site has ceased all trading and will not re-open in the foreseeable future.

The decision to close all concession stands comes weeks after A-Wear entered administration, the second time in less than 2 years and the closure of 27 out 31 stores across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. However, over the past week, A-Wear has moved to re-open an additional five to six stores. The concessions are being shut less than a year after the Irish retailer started offering its collection at House of Fraser.

“The receiver's plan is to get a number of the shops open and then sell the business as a going concern,” said a spokesman for A-Wear receiver Ken Fennell of Kavanaghfennell to Drapers.
