New York-based menswear designer Adam Kimmel is taking a sabbatical from fashion and
suspending his line for a year, according to reports. After the shipments of his autumn/winter 2012 collection Kimmel will take a year’s sabbatical from fashion to spend time with his family and explore a number of other creative avenues.
In a statement Kimmel said: “I look forward to utilising this next year to experiment and learn, and channel what I find into new concepts, designs and projects. I believe this is how designers become better stewards to their work.”
However, Kimmel did add that the collaborations with streetwear brands Carhartt and Supreme would still be delivered and released as planned.
Kimmel founded his signature menswear label in 2004 and now sells to about 80 stores worldwide including London’s Dover Street Market, Barneys New York, and Colette in Paris.
