Alexander McQueen’s womenswear flagship on Bond

Street, which has been closed since June, will reopen on the opening day of London Fashion Week, Friday, September 13.

The new look store, set over two floors, showcases creative director Sarah Burton’s new retail concept, which has been designed by the last interior designer David Collins, who also worked on the brand’s menswear store on Savile Row and flagship in New York.

The 2,690 square foot store will house the label’s catwalk pieces, as well as the ready-to-wear, accessories, shoes, bags and scarves collections.

The refitted flagship features bespoke panelled walls covered in wings, shells, cactus flowers, seahorse tails, tangled leaves, skulls and gargoyles, while mirrors are gilded in silver and gold and solid bronze animal feet in the shape of hooves and claws adorn velvet-upholstered furniture.

“It’s very McQueen to see something from a distance and think it’s one thing and then to look up close and discover something else. It’s important to us that everything in the stores feels very precious,” said Burton, in a statement.

The London flagship design will also be replicated in the brand’s New York flagship at 747 Madison Avenue, which will replace the original flagship in the Meat Packing District later this month.
