Asos director James Hart has resigned after 14 years with the online clothing retailer. Hart, who was

one of the company's first employees in 1999, alongside founder Nick Robertson, is set to leave the business later this year to spend time developing his new family home.

Hart, who is on a six-month notice period, has not yet lined up his next role, but has said that he wants to find another position that would allow him to continue to work with consumers.

Asos CEO Nick Robertson said: "From day one - and it literally was day one - James has consistently embodied the Asos spirit with his enthusiasm for the ‘next thing', ideas-driven approach and never-ending focus on what's best for the business, always delivering it with our brand at the heart."

During his time at Asos, Hart was responsible for a number of the e-tailer’s customer-facing initiatives including launching the Asos Marketplace.
