Aurora considerin​g brand spin-offs

British fashion retailer Aurora Fashions is said to be considering spinning off its Coast

brand, with the company stating that Oasis and Warehouse are likely to follow suit in due course. The separation of Coast from the wider group is also an advance move to prime the company for sale, although at the time of writing, chairman Derek Lovelock has stated that the company has no imminent plans to offload the brand.

Lovelock also stated that the new financial arrangements at Coast will allow it to continue its expansion plans, including opening a number of domestic flagship stores and more international franchises, emphasising Aurora’s intentions to leave Coast in as good health as possible.

The parent company has previous experience of successfully spinning off brands, separating the Karen Millen brand from the parent company in 2011, and should it achieve a similar feat with Coast, the brand will make an attractive proposition when the time comes to sell.
