Azzaro appoints two creative directors

French fashion house Azzaro has named Spanish designers

Arnaud Maillard and Alvaro Castejón as the brand’s new creative directors.

The Spain-based designer duo, who founded their own womenswear label in 2009, called Alvarno, which presents at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid will make their official debut for the brand on July 5 with a pre-collection of 25 pieces at the Azzaro boutique in Paris.

This appointment marks the first time a duo has been chosen to helm the brand, and according to WWD, the pair plan to elevate the high-glamour of the French label’s special-occasion designs with the introduction of vibrant colours, prints and embroidery.

The duo replace designer Mathilde Castello Branco, who departed from the French brand in October of last year.
