Last week's sales figures at John Lewis showed a rise 7.6
percent to nearly 66 million pounds. The successful retailer has admitted, however, that it's fashion floors are still in a period of transition. The company is hoping its new autumn winter collections will bring exponential results.Currently the 'back to school' ranges are being heavily promoted, after the end of the summer sale.
Barry Matheson, director of Retail Services, stated: “We enter the final week of August in good form and the bank holiday weekend gives us numerous opportunities to capture trade from the additional footfall that will be in our shops and extend our recent fine form."
This week the John Lewis Partnership notified its staff of a miscalculation of holiday pay over a period of seven years, and is paying out 40 million pounds, representing an average of 580 pounds per employee, after the miscalculations dating back to 2006.
