An exhibition devoted to French couturier, Jean Paul

Gaultier is coming to London next year. The display will be held at the Barbican in April 2014 as part of the exhibitions international tour.

Entitled ‘The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk’ the exhibition will display more than 140 of the designers cutting-edge designs as well as his ready-to-wear garments including some of his iconic pieces.

Designed as an installation rather than a conventional fashion retrospective, the theatrically staged display will feature pieces including Madonna's iconic conical bra and corsets, which the singer wore during her 1990 Blonde Ambition World Tour, as well as stage costumes designed exclusively for Kylie Minogue, and pieces created for Luc Besson's 1997 sci-fi film The Fifth Element.

Described as a “dynamic installation” the exhibition will also feature photography and footage of catwalk presentations, concerts, music videos, films, dance performances and Gaultier's cult television show, Eurotrash.

The exhibition opens at the Barbican in April 2014, and will be accompanied by an events programme and film season.
