British heritage brand Barbour International has announced

its first-ever brand collaborations for Autumn/Winter 2014. For its menswear line, Barbour International has teamed up with Australian label Deus Ex Machina to develop a limited edition collection, and for the womenswear collaborative collection the company has partnered up with Australian streetwear brand Francis Leon.

Deus Ex Machina, which translates from its Latin roots to 'god from the machine,' is known for its custom motorcycles and surf/street lifestyle wear. Together with Barbour International, the two have created a small capsule collection featuring authentic motorcycle jackets with leather collars, hand drawn T-shirts and simple rugged knitwear.

Dare Jennings, the founder and owner of Deus Ex Machina said: “We are delighted to be sharing some of our DNA with Barbour International, a brand that holds a special place in our hearts as motorcycling enthusiasts. Barbour's enduring quality and pragmatic sense of purpose sits in perfect harmony with our own philosophy.” Ian Bergin, head of menswear at Barbour International added that Deus Ex Machina is the “ideal partner” to launch the first collaborative collection for menswear for Barbour International. He believes that the limited edition collection is “bound to attract interest amongst bike loving aficionados across the world.”

Francis Leon is a exclusive streetwear brand, known for the sharp tailoring and detailed apparel. The 'Nightrider Collection' for Barbour International was inspired by the image of strong female bikers, combined with the brand's signature styling. The collection features futuristic, constructed biker jackets, modern, yet functional quilts and knitwear.

“Working with Francis Leon on our first collaborative collection for Barbour International has been very exciting. The attention to detail and clever use of performance styling in their garments complements Barbour International's established biker style,” commented Sarah Lawrenson, head of womenswear at Barbour International. Jo Turner, creative director at Francis Leon added that it was a “real pleasure to work with such an iconic British brand”. She stated that together the two brands had “created a masterfully tailored and functional collection that has given a modern twist” to the traditional jackets Barbour International is known for.

Both collaborative collections will be available in selected Barbour International stores around the world from July, 2014.
