Planning permission has been granted for a retail led generation of Barnsley town centre,

North England.

The £125 million project has been designed by architect Holder Mathias and will create a completely new retail centre for the town, replacing the existing Metropolitan shopping centre.

The development of the scheme will undertaken in partnership with Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council and Remaking Barnsley.

The project will be delivered and led by retail property specialists Ashcroft, who have joined forces with partners Wilson Bowden Developments and Guildhouse Developments to form the 1249 Regeneration Partnership LLP.

The scheme is due for completion in 2015.
