Barratts closes 19 stores

Leeds-based footwear retailer Barratts revealed plans to close nineteen stores
throughout the UK and Ireland, weeks after it announced it had gone into administration for the third time in four years.Barratts previously had 75 stores and 24 concessions stands in department throughout the country, however for now the concession stand will remain.
Stores that will be shut down include Manchester, Hull, Romford and Gloucester. With almost a fourth of its existing stores being shut down, about 200 employees will lose their jobs among the 1,035 man staff Barratts currently employs.
Barratts has appointed Duff & Phelps as administrator, who are reviewing the footwear chains financial position and seeking potential buyers for the company. Last time the company went into administration was December 2011, when the company closed five stores.
Barratts
