Billabong names new chairman

Australian surfwear brand Billabong has announced the appointment of Dr Ian Pollard as

chairman of its board.

Pollard, a former chairman of Just Group, the owner of several youth fashion brands including Just Jeans, is replacing Ted Kunkel who announced earlier this year of his intention to retire from the board after seven years in the role.

In a statement, Kunkel said: “Ian will bring a strong mix of commercial and financial expertise to assist with the ongoing transformation of the Billabong business.

“His understanding of the retail environment along with a strong focus on financial management and performance will serve the company and shareholder interests well.”

Pollard will join the board as chairman elect after the annual shareholders' meeting on October 24.
