Macy’s Inc announced in a press release that Micheal Gould, Chief

Executive Officer and chairman at Bloomingdale for the past 22 years, will be replaced by the company’s current president and chief operating officer, Tony Spring.

Gould, who turned 70 this year, said that he felt that “now is the appropriate time for a change for both the company and myself.” He also mentioned that leading Bloomingdale’s to a “new level of success over the two decades has been a great privilege,” an accomplishment to be proud of.

Terry J.Lundgren, the chairman, president and CEO of Macy’s Inc, said that Gould had been an “an outstanding and inspirational leader who has strengthened Bloomingdale’s position as an upscale fashion trendsetter known and loved by customers around the globe.” He also added, "Tony Spring also has been an integral part of Bloomingdale’s formula of success for 26 years, and we are excited about his new, elevated role leading this exceptional omni channel brand going forward."

Before taking on the role of CEO at Bloomingdale, Gould was president and CEO of Giorgio Beverly Hills. Spring first began working for Bloomingdale’s in 1987 as executive trainee, working his way up the career ladder to his new role. A new company president for Bloomingdale’s is expected to be announced some time next year.
