Boxpark, the streetwear destination in East London, has rolled out a multichannel system where any

of tenant's shoppers can scan items using a smartphone which links to an e-commerce online store.

The new system is called the Boxpark Market Place website and eliminates the need for tills, where transactions are done via iPad or smartphone.

Boxpark takes 20 percent commission of sales made via its multichannel system. Roger Wade told Menswear Insight that he expects 50 percent of Boxpark tenants to adopt the "shop in a box" system, which comes at no extra cost, in the first year.

The reasons for the remaining tenants not picking up on the scheme, he said, were due to a third of the shops being food stores that have no need for such a sophisticated multichannel approach and the others being major brands, such as Nike, that have their own systems in place.
