British Library launches creative festival

This March, the British Library is hosting its first ever festival
of the UK’s creative industries with a five day celebration ofcreativity, fashion and design. Aimed at designers and makers, the festival willshowcase creative talent and open up the Library’s vast and varied collections fromMarch 1-5.The festival will feature everything from vintage knittingpatterns to Burmese tattoo designs, Victorian hair jewellery, Manga and graphicnovels, with a series of free and ticketed events, as well as highlighting the freebusiness advice and practical resources available at the library.
The event kicks off with a Spring Market featuring a numberof designers selling their collections on the Library’s St Pancras piazza; followedby a patterns and textures lecture, where British Library curators willshowcase pieces from its collection.
Other events include: a vintage knit workshop, recreatingpatterns from the Library’s archive; the Art of Illustration panel featuring QuentinBlake, Jamie Hewlett, and Posy Simmonds; a networking event; and an after-hourspop-up exhibition where the iconic walls of the Library will be covered indigital graffiti.
