British heritage brand Burberry is teaming up with the British Academy of Film

and Television Arts to celebrate and support “future stars of film, television and games” with a new project called ‘Breakthrough Brits’.

The talent promotion initiative will select 20 newcomers to take part in a day of in-depth career guidance and mentoring from leading industry figures at BAFTA's London headquarters in October. In the evening, the event will conclude with a reception at Burberry's flagship Regent Street store.

Amanda Berry OBE, Chief Executive of BAFTA, said: "We are incredibly excited to be working with Burberry to provide this platform for emerging talent. It's a fantastic opportunity for newcomers to showcase their work on a public stage, and to make the industry connections that are so important to developing their careers both nationally and internationally. We hope their achievement will inspire others taking their first steps into the film, television and games industries."

BAFTA is accepting nominations until July 8, and the scheme is open to all UK nationals who at the start of their career and are looking to make a name for themselves as a performer or in a craft specialism with film, television or games, and who have a credit on at least one production with a theatrical release, broadcast or publication in the UK between October 2012 and October 2013.

Burberry is well-known for its support of up-and-coming British talent, the fashion house launched the Burberry Acoustic project to support emerging musicians, and the brand has used breakthrough actors including Eddie Redmayne and Douglas Booth in their ad campaigns.
