Ever since the eponymous founder and designer of Danish women's
wear label By Malene Birger left her role as creative director earlier this year, the company has been through a series of changes. This January, Malene Birger announced her impending exit from the label to focus on her new design company Birger1962. However instead of appointing a new creative director to succeed Birger, parent company IC Companys, who acquired the label in 2010, has announced the fulfillment of five new positions.
Christina Exsteen has been promoted and is now head of design for the label's ready-to-wear line, as its accessories line have been separated from apparel to have its own division. The new department will be led by Giulia Bizzotto, who previously worked at Burberry and Lara Bohinc, as she was appointed head of product category this July.
The label has also taken on a new production manager, Deepa Hingorani Tarach, who is set to begin her new role mid-September. Tarach previously oversaw production production at Hugo Boss, Esprit and Karl Lagerfeld’s new ready-to-wear brand.
By Malene Birger has also appointed Victoria Archer as its new marketing manager. Archer, who previously worked at Sotheby's and Vivienne Westwood, will be in charge all of the brand’s B2B and B2C marketing activities, and further implement the brand’s growing marketing structure.
Lastly, the Danish women's wear label has made two new appointments in its distribution sector. Isabella Gollungberg, who has previously worked at Maje for eight years, has been taken on as By Malene Birger's new export director and is responsible for introducing the label to new markets. Mette Aarup was hired from within the IC Companys Group as By Malene Birger's new retail and franchise manager for Northern Europe.
The series of new hires comes as the label is preparing to open its first store in Hong Kong, which will be its second store in Asia. By Malene Birger currently has a thirty stand alone stores across the globe and just under a thousand multibrand outlets.
