Cambridge Satchel Company set to open London flagship store

British handbag maker, the Cambridge Satchel Company is set to open its first flagship

store in London's Covent Garden, after successfully opening a pop-up store in the area which later became a permanent retail unit.

The Cambridge Satchel Company will unveil its 3,239 square foot flagship store, located at 31 James Street, on October 7, according to Drapers Online.

The new store spans six storeys, with the first two floors being allocated for retail space, one for a showroom and the remaining three being transformed into on site offices. A number of staff will be relocated from the company's head quarter in Cambridge to the new offices.

A company spokeswoman revealed that the flagship store had been “four months in the making”. It's design, created by architects Househam Henderson will represent “a real coming of age for the brand”.

The flagship store will operate alongside the company's first store in London, located at 15 Short Gardens, which opened as a pop-up in December 2012 and then as a permanent addition in February 2013, with an embossing service and bloggers' lounge.
