Cambridge Satchel Company wins Red Ribbon Award

The Cambridge Satchel Company has been awarded top

honour at the Red Ribbon awards, the annual awards which celebrate the achievements and contributions of family businesses to the British economy.

The accessories brand won the prestigious ‘Tomorrow’s Brand’ category, for its “inspirational story” and “ambitious plans for the future”, which has led to the brand becoming a must-have accessory both in the UK and internationally.

Commenting on her win, Julie Deane, who founded The Cambridge Satchel Company from her kitchen table in 2008, said: “It's a great honour to have won something that recognises how important family is to the brand. Family is the reason I started the business and my motivation for growing and developing the Cambridge Satchel name.”

Anita Brightley-Hodges, MD of Family Business Place which hosted the awards, added: “The Cambridge Satchel Company were chosen as winners because of the inspirational story behind this brand, their phenomenal rise to fame and their journey from being a kitchen-table business born out of necessity to earn an income, to becoming a must-have accessory amongst women, fashionistas and celebrities alike and with big dreams and exciting plans for the future.”

The accessories label beat off competition from chocolate brand Prestat, which was commended for excellence, Stoke Park, Wold Top Brewery, Bremont, and footwear brand Dr. Martens.

Other awards were given for innovation, customer service, longevity, entrepreneurship, fast growing business, as well as family business of the year and corporate social responsibility.
