Canadian outerwear company Canada Goose,

best known for its parkas, has sold a majority stake to private equity firm Bain Capital.

The company, who's jackets and parkas consists of a technical lining that makes even extreme weather manageable, has since found a niche fashion customer, and its jackets are stocked at some of the world's leading retailers, including Harrods and Mr Porter.

While the company insists it will only manufacture in Canada, where it has been since it was founded in 1957, the new investment will "amplify what has driven our success for the last 15-plus years: delivering the best and warmest jackets to the rest of the world," said CEO Dani Reisswill.

Canada Goose currently employs over 1,000 people worldwide and its products are distributed in over 50 countries.

The company is growing fast and recently doubled production capacity in Winnipeg, Canda, by moving into a larger facility, as well as moving its Toronto manufacturing operations into another much larger building.
