Shopping centre owner and operator Capital Shopping Centres

anticipates that 10,000 seasonal jobs will be created within its shopping malls this Christmas.

CSC is predicting that major retailers will recruit up 50 seasonal workers at some of their stores during the festive period with other temporary jobs being created through a range of Christmas related ventures, both in the main malls and as a result of temporary lettings.

CSC calculates that a total of 80,000 people are directly employed across its 15 shopping centres through its retail, catering and leisure tenants, in addition to CSC’s own employees. A further 25,000 indirect jobs are supported in the local communities.

Trevor Pereira, CSC commercial director said: "Our shopping centres are at the heart of their communities and play a vital role year after year in providing jobs and economic contribution. The Christmas period is of course the busiest time of the year and it’s fantastic that our centres are able to provide an extra 10,000 jobs for their communities."
