Fashion, accessories and homewares retailer Cath

Kidston has set its sights on expanding into Europe as it plans to roll out concessions in Spain.

Chief executive Kenny Wilson told The Telegraph that the retailer was ‘in talks’ to open up to 80 concessions in Spain, following successful trail concessions in the Madrid and Palmer branches of Spanish department store El Corte Inglés.

Wilson disclosed that the Madrid concession would become permanent as the trial had been “very, very successful” and added that if the retailer could make the concession work in Spain where the economy is “pretty tough” then he had ever confidence that it could work across Western Europe.

Cath Kidston, known for its quirky floral prints, currently has 61 stores in the UK and 58 mostly franchised stores in Asia. The company is 60 percent owned by a US private equity group TA Associates, while Kidston owns 20 percent.
