Christopher Kane wins top accolade at Scottish Fashion Awards

Designer Christopher Kane was named Scottish Fashion Designer
of the Year at last night’s annual Scottish Fashion Awards, beating off competition from two-times winner Jonathan Saunders to claim the top prize.The awards, which recognise the most influential people in Scottish fashion is now in its seventh year and was hosted by fashion personality Alexa Chung, also honoured Hayley Scanlan who scooped the Scottish Young Designer of the Year and William Chambers took home the award for Scottish Accessory Designer of the Year.
There were also awards given to Dashing Tweeds who was named Scottish Textile Brand of the Year and luxury brand Mulberry was named International Designer of the Year for its use of a Scottish fabric.
Other winners included Doctor Who actress Karen Gillan who was named Scottish Fashion Icon, and esteemed fashion journalist and founded of Fashion Fringe Colin McDowell was awarded the honorary 'Fashion Ambassador 2012' accolade for his contribution to Scottish fashion and industry.
Tali Lennox, daughter of Annie Lennox, took home the Scottish Model of the Year prize for a second consecutive year, while supermodel Stella Tennant, who has served over 20 years as an international supermodel, was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
