Cifonelli to launch ready-to-wear line

Parisian-based tailor Cifonelli is preparing to launch its first ready-to-wear line, which is said to combine a mixture French,

Italian and English influences.

For the past six months Lorenzo Cifonelli, who is the fourth generation family member to over see the tailor workshop, has been training selected tailors in an Italian factory on how to create the 'Cifonelli Shoulder.' The rtw line will feature of combine of the tailors bespoke designs, combined with new silhouettes.

The workshop is currently under the helm Cifonelli and his cousin Massimo, who revealed to WWD: “My cousin and I have been creating bespoke for the past 20 years, and we want to give new impetus to our house. Our aim is not to copy other fashion brands, it’s to give a new, more modern vision to our savoir faire.”

The rtw line is aimed at a younger audience, and the spring collection, which consists of 16 looks will be showcased alongside with the fall line for sale. Designs include a three-piece suit with double breasted vests, jeans made from a cashmere-cotton mix and a travel jacket.

A small collection of accessories, such as shoes made in Italy and leather goods are also part of the tailors rtw line. The rtw line suits are set to range in price from 2,900 euros or 2,315 pounds at current exchange rate to 3,900 euros, or 3,115 pounds.

The new collection will be officially unveiled during a private presentation at its bespoke atelier on 28 June, after the relaunch of the Cifonelli website. The rtw line will first go on sale in the two Cifonelli stores, one on Rue Marbeuf, the second slated to open by the end of this year, and at selected locations from no more than 10 wholesale partners.
