London City retailer Ede & Ravenscroft saw sales rise 4.3
percent to 37.3 million pounds last year. The company, which was founded in 1689, opened its first store on Aldwych.Pre-tax profits increased to 4.1 million pounds, proving the consumer spending squeeze troubling high street retailers does not necessarily extend into the world of luxury fashion.
According to the Savile Row Bespoke Association, 10,000 handmade suits, costing 3,800 pounds each on average, were sold on the renowned street last year — a 10 percent increase on the year before.
