Fashion Institute and head of the jury announced the winner of the IAF designer award. He praised the winner from Colombia, Andrea Landa with her collection Tribal Queen, for her use of local materials in a very elegant way.

For the first time, the IAF Designer Award was not announced during a traditional catwalk show of the nominees. Instead, the nominees’ best pieces were displayed on mannequins in one of Medellín’s prime shopping centres, El Tesoro. This choice highlights the connections between all of the fashion industry’s components, including retail and design. Present was last year’s winner Marga Weimans from the Netherlands with her latest Spring Collection. She received her Award for 2013 earlier this convention from President Harry van Dalfsen. Andrea Landa will be invited to attend next year’s convention and present her collection.

The nominees:
Saurabh Kumar – India
Sonal Verma – India
Fernanda Da Silva – Brazil
Andrea Landa – Colombia
Love Citizens – Colombia
Yeo Ting Ting Jolene - Singapore

Judges:
Leslie Holden, Head of Faculty of the departments of Design and Management at the Amsterdam Fashion Institute.
Martha Cálad. Fashion Lab Director at Inexmoda
Ed Gribbin, CEO of Alvanon
