Los Angeles-based designers and stylists Meritt Elliott

and Emily Current have announced that they have exited their namesake label, Current/Elliott.

Founded in July 2008, the denim-driven label inspired by vintage washes and a nod to Seventies Americana, has gained a celebrity following as well as recognition in the industry for its expert tailoring and collaborations with the likes of Marni, DvF, and most recently, Mary Katrantzou.

No reason for the departure has been given; however, it is being speculated that the design duo had fallen out with the brand’s co-founder, CEO and creative director, Serge Azria, who also owns Equipment and Joie.

In a short, joint statement to WWD, the duo said: “We are so proud of what we have accomplished with Current/Elliott. Parting ways has been a difficult decision, but we are thrilled for our next chapter in design and to perpetuate our whimsical Americana aesthetic across multiple categories.”
