Department store chain Debenhams has poached
Argos e-commerce boss Ross Clemmow to push forward its multichannel strategy after the exit of Simon Forster, who left the retailer late last year to join Selfridges.Clemmow, who has been in charge of Argos’ multichannel strategy since 2011, will take up the position of divisional trading director of e-commerce at Debenhams in June.
His appointment marks the importance of multichannel growth to the retailer, which was emphasised as an important strategy for Debenhams by CEO Michael Sharp, after the retailer was forced to issue a profit warning earlier this month.
Commenting on Clemmow’s appointment, Sharp said: “I am delighted to announce the appointment of Ross Clemmow as Divisional Trading Director e-Commerce.
“Ross joins us from Argos where he has held the position of Director of e-Commerce and Multichannel Strategy and brings a wealth of e-commerce experience to Debenhams.”
