Fox Brothers, the English woollen mill owned by Dragon’s Den’s
Deborah Meaden, has launched a website offering British fine luxury goods in a celebration of British design, tradition and heritage. The e-commerce site has three product categories: Homes & Interiors, Work & Travel, and Accessories & Style, offering bags, accessories, cushions, and one-off pieces of furniture. One key highlight of the products is that wherever possible, there is an element of Fox Brothers cloth incorporated into the design.
“Heritage and provenance are highly valued but the product must also be relevant today. The collection put together for The Merchant Fox showcases the best of British, a selection of exquisite products entirely made in the British Isles; sometimes using age-old techniques learnt over generations, sometimes combining modern designs with traditional production methods, all with appeal to the most discerning customer seeking rarity in the marketplace,” said Deborah Meaden.
Fox Brothers was established in 1772, and are credited with being the original creator of ‘flannel’, and their cloths have incorporated into suits worn by Cary Grant and Edward, the Duke of Windsor. Recently the mill launched an apprenticeship scheme at its West Country mill to ensure the skills required to produce high-end woollen and worsted cloths are transferred to a new generation of craftsmen and craftswomen. The two apprentices now working at Fox are involved in the design process and creation of the cloths being used in The Merchant Fox collection.
