Delvaux, the luxury Belgian accessories company, is to open its first boutique on New Bond Street in London later this year.

Delvaux is one of the oldest luxury brands in the world and was founded 1829. It has been an official purveyor to the Court of Belgium since 1883.

Much like Hermès, the company makes all of its bags in its own workshop in Brussels. It is thought the company makes up to 15,000 bags per annum.

According to the Evening Standard, the rent is 435,000 pounds a year, and it is thought Delvaux will pay a premium of more than 1 million pounds to secure the lease.

In 2011 a majority stake in Delvaux was sold to Fung Brands, the investment arm of Hong Kong billionaires Victor and William Fung.
