Diana’s dresses

Next year Kensington Palace will host an exhibition dedicated to five of Diana, Princess of Wales’

most recognisable dresses. The exhibition entitled simply, Diana, will feature illustrations and photographs detailing the history of the dresses, some of which have never been displayed in the UK before.

The exhibit opens at Kensington Palace on March 26, 2012 and will showcase some of the late Princess’ favourite designers including an ivory silk crepe dinner dress and purple silk chiffon sari style dress both by Catherine Walker. They will be joined by creations designed by Versace, and Bellville Sassoon Lorcan Mullany. The highlight of the exhibit will be the black silk taffeta gown that Diana wore at her first official engagement with Prince Charles in 1981, designed by Emanuel, the designers behind the Princess’s opulent wedding gown.

The exhibition is part of the festivities celebrating the renovation of Kensington Palace, and will be set against a backdrop by interior designers Finola Inger and Julie Verhoeven.
