Dodo, the Italian jewellery brand, is partnering with

Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design on a new venture, The Dodo Project. The jewellery house Pomellato launched Dodo in 1995, and to celebrate the first Dodo flagship store in the UK based in London’s Sloane Square, students from the BA Jewellery Design course were asked to submit pieces inspired by the brand and the capital.

To fully understand the world of Dodo, the students underwent an induction into the brand overseen by jewellery designer, Sian Evans. The students then produced concepts that showed Dodo’s international appeal as well as marking the brands’ London arrival.

There were four winners announced, with the overall winner of the project going to Belgium designer Charlotte Le Hardy with her Dodo Dark collection. Inspired by London’s darker side, she created three new charms: the Rat, the Fly and the Pigeon. As being crowned winner, her three humorous and punkish charms, will be produced as a limited edition in gold and black diamonds and sold exclusively in the Dodo flagship store in London.

The other three winning ideas were: The Logomania bracelet design by Wenting Chen from China, who drew inspiration from the Asian love of logos, she transformed the Dodo wording into a bracelet. A prototype in pink gold will be created and exhibited at the inaugural evening; the Graphic Foulard by British designer Marwa Smida, works the brand’s logo and animal theme; and Pinkney Gould from the United States designed the Dodo Chef’s Pasta, a mini pasta pack for two wrapped in logo-ed packaging, conveying both the seductive and affectionate side of Dodo.

The whole collection will be unveiled, for the very first time, in the Dodo store, London on November 17.
