Edwin Watts Golf Shops fills in for bankruptcy

American golf apparel retailer Edwin Watts Golf Shops LLC has become

the last specialised apparel retailer to fill in for bankruptcy, after registering for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Monday.

The Florida-based golf retailer is owned by private equity firm Sun Capital Partners Inc. and sells golf equipment, clothing, and accessories from its more than 88 retail stores in the US.

The company’s estimated assets and liabilities indicate the golf retailer's equity ranged from 100 to 500 million dollars, as per the filling.

This is the second divestment for Sun Capital in barely a month, after exiting Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant by selling it to mid-market firm Centre Partners in October.
