Ladieswear retailer Etam may have ceased to trade as a standalone brand in the UK back in

2005 but recent financial figures reveal that the retailer is causing a fashion stir across the pond.

Etam Development recorded an encouraging first half for 2010 - net sales are up 9% to €545 million and operating income increased by more than 50% compared to last year, totalling €19.5 million. Strong growth in the Chinese market and healthy end-of season sales in France were credited for its peak performance.

Strong development in Eastern Europe and continued growth in China indicates promising new directions for future growth. Russian supermodel Natalia Vodianova, the face of Etam worldwide, also adds to the brand’s continued success overseas.

The womenswear retailer, formed by French firm Etam Development, ceased trading in August 2005 when Arcadia Group purchased it and both the Etam logo and 209 stores disappeared from the UK retail scene. Its subsidiary Tammy was introduced into the BHS stores, which saw a revamped Tammy line introduced as a concession.
