Ecommerce federations from the Netherlands, Belgium,
Denmark, France, Italy, Norway and Sweden and Europe's largest online retailers have established the Ecommerce Europe Association: an interest group for players in the world of European ecommerce. Francois Momboisse, president of the French professional association for online trade FEVAD, has been appointed head of the new organisation.Ecommerce Europe Association's goal is to facilitate European online trade. "The growth of online sales in 2012 proves that ecommerce in Europe still hasn't reached its full potential," said board member and co-founder of Vente-Privee Xavier Court. "It is essential for all ecommerce players to come together and discuss new issues in the sector. We are aware of the importance of ecommerce players having the same goals in order to continue the digital revolution. As yet only one in ten Europeans shops via a web shop based in another European country. The Ecommerce Europe Association will work towards creating a single European online market that offers access to all European online sales websites."
The association will focus on improving regulations, logistics and payment. It will also be performing joint investigations and organising round tables and network meetings.
