Evan's, the plus sized women's wear brand from Arcadia Group, is preparing to host
its inaugural catwalk show during London Fashion Week. The event will take place next week Tuesday (September 16) at the Freemason Hall in Coven Garden. The catwalk show is set to showcase reworked plus-sized garments from its Design Collective for Evans, a collaboration between the fashion label and a number of designers including Vita Gottlieb, Giles Deacon, Jamie Wei Huang and Lulu Liu.
The catwalk show will also feature selected items from Evans' Spring/Summer 2015 collection, which was designed in-house under the supervision of the label's head of design, Rebecca Vahn Reicher. Evans will also showcase designs from the winners of its 2014 CUT for Evans competition, which aims to promote young fashion students designs and feature them in its stores.
Evans brand director Fiona Ross said to Drapers: “We’ve always believed that fashion should be accessible whatever your size. We want to move beyond being seen as a plus-size retailer; it’s fashion first for us.”
“The whole dialogue has changed over the past four or five years, it’s become more and more accepting, and this is starting to come together as a conversation in the media. I think this show is going to cause a stir.”
The catwalk show will be host by Sir Philip Green himself, chief executive officer of Arcadia Group.
