A sheer dress, now famous, as it was supposedly the number
that caught Prince William's eye, when Kate Middleton strided down a mock catwalk at the University of St.Andrew's charity fashion show in 2002, has been sold in an auction. The lucky collector bid 78,000 pounds for the dress, originally designed to be a skirt, by Charlotte Todd. It cost only 30 pounds to make.
The dress was sold as part of Kerry Taylor Auction's Passion for Fashion Auction at La Galleria in London. At the time of the charity fashion show, Todd was studying a degree in Fashion and Textiles at the University of West of England and designed the piece for the project aptly entitled, The Art of Seduction.
After the auction, she said, 'I am totally speechless, I really didn’t think it would make that amount.'
