The UK high street is dominated by fashion according to new figures released. The University of

Southampton conducted new research into the presence of fashion and accessories on the high street, and its shares are now bigger than before the 2007 recession.

The figures show clothing and footwear accounted for 25.4 per cent of town centre sales in 2013, up from 20.5 percent in 2007, Drapers reported.

The research also forecasts that the continuing rise of online retailing will be good for the high street, with 70 percent of consumers expected to prefer using click & collect services rather than risk missing a delivery within five years.
