Following last year’s successful Fashion’s Night Out in Manchester, the shopping initiative created in 2009 to celebrate fashion

and boost the retail economy, is returning to London this September.

The decision to move the activity back to the capital is in “recognition of all the new retail activity” on Oxford Street and Regent Street, British Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman commented. The streets have seen a stream of recent openings, both Karl Lagerfeld and Tumi recently opened and Lacoste re-opened its location with a new retail concept. In addition, Hunter and Ralph Lauren’s Polo label are set to open new stores in the area.

"After successfully transplanting the initiative to Manchester last year to share the experience with a new audience, we're returning Fashion's Night Out to London, focusing on Oxford Street and Regent Street in recognition of all the new retail activity," said Vogue editor Alexandra Shulman. "We're looking forward to thousands of shoppers joining us in the great mix of department stores, high-street and designer brands."

The British edition of Fashion’s Night Out was first held in 2009, at the same time as the event was launched in New York. Last year, the event was held in 28 cities globally, including Sydney, Sao Paulo, Hong Kong, Paris, Berlin and Moscow, though it went on break in the United States. However, according to Vogue, New York is joining London, as well as Paris, Delhi and Beijing in the initiative this year.
