Traditional English sportswear brand, Gymphlex has launched its brand new capsule collection

One Nine Zero Six. The contemporary, casual menswear range is inspired by the brand’s British roots, which has been producing high quality fabrics for over 100 years, and sees a return to manufacturing in the UK.

Designed by menswear designer, Jeff Griffin, the AW11 capsule line is made up of bound seam single-layer outerwear, knitwear, tailored shirts, chino trousers and shorts, alongside jersey and woven-sportswear. There is also a small selection of heavy gauge wool merino knit accessories, which has been added to compliment the overall look of the collection.

“Investing in the best of British design and manufacturing is essential for our industry,” said James Greenlees, Managing Director, Gymphlex. “One Nine Zero Six is a contemporary collection, designed to make the most of British design and manufacturing.”

One Nine Zero Six's autumn/winter 2011 features exclusive fabrics inspired by the Gymphlex archive and is made with the finest English cloth and produced by traditional English manufacturers. The first is Raw Flannel, a unique West of England cloth; to produce it the brand worked closely with the originators of wool flannel, Fox Brothers, to produce a ‘loomstate’ flannel that is seen in the collections chinos.

The second is Two-Fold Egyptian Long Staple Cotton Pique Jersey, which is produced exclusively by Leicestershire knitters on original looms using archive construction patterns and yarn, which is seen in the line’s jersey polo shirts and track pants. The rest of the line is complemented by classic English fabrics including Ventile, English Selvedge Denim, hand-linked Merino, fine cotton shirting fabric and military-style Wool Melton cloth.

Gymphlex was founded in 1906, and is a fourth generation family business. Its heritage is in the manufacture of functional sportswear for Schools, Universities and Clubs. The brand also has range of leisurewear produced and sold in Japan.
