H&M is delaying its debut in India after experiencing a slower than expected regulatory clearance.
The Swedish fashion chain was to launch its first store this spring, but is now delaying it until autumn.
Political instability in India is also a factor in delaying its opening, although the company is still expected to open its first store in Delhi, with other possibilities in Mumbai and Bangalore.
An executive in a real estate consultancy said H&M had booked a space in Delhi and Noida, but would sign some of the deals with the developers after the formation of the new government at the Centre.
