British luxury department store Harrods has teamed up with airlines
company British Airways to launch a series of special flights, featuring catwalk shows hosted in the sky during mid-flight.The new partnership was celebrated last night with the first series of show-flights taking place in the sky. The fashionable flight series is set to take place on the new A380 flight route from London to Johannesburg and will be showcasing outfits from designers such as Victoria Beckham, Stella McCartney and Ralph & Russo, reported Vogue.
Harrods managing director Michael Ward commented: "Harrods is delighted to have partnered with British Airways, bringing together two iconic British brands, to create a spectacular event. Celebrating the exceptional design of the A380, we were able to present the talent and creativity of our most respected British fashion designers, in a unique experience at 30,000 feet."
Details of future shows are still under tight wraps, but each catwalk show is set to be overseen by Harrods and take place during private, press-only flights.
