Stacey Cartwright has been taken on by premium department store group

Harvey Nichols Group of Companies as its new Chief Executive Officer. She succeeds Joseph Wan, who previously held the role at the department store group for the past 21 years.

Last February, Cartwright announced that she was leaving her position as finance chief and executive vice president at Burberry Group plc, a move that took the fashion industry by surprise as she had been with the luxury company since 2004. She played a leading role in helping transform Burberry in to the luxury brand it has become and increasing company turnover from 676 million pounds in 2004 to over 2 billion pounds in 2013.

Cartwright is set to start her new role at Harvey Nichols on February 17, with Wan officially retiring end of March. She revealed that she was “delighted to be joining Harvey Nichols at such an exciting time in the luxury retail market; a market which demonstrates significant potential for which she has “enormous passion” for.

Joseph Wan commented: “Nothing gives me greater pleasure than handing over to Stacey a stronger Harvey Nichols than the one I joined. I wish Stacey well in her new role and under her leadership, I look forward to seeing Harvey Nichols growing from strength to strength.”

Dr. Dickson Poon, group chairman at Harvey Nichols adds: “Stacey joins us with an outstanding track record in growing and transforming world class companies, most recently in the luxury retail sector. Her appointment underlines our commitment to raising the bar even higher in this sector, strengthening both our leadership team and the exceptional service, products and experience we give to our customers at home and abroad.”

This announcement comes swiftly after it was revealed that Harvey Nichols was in talks to open its first mainland department store in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
