Harvey Nichols' fashion director Paula Reed is

leaving the company in the wake of an anti-fur controversy.

Harvey Nichols famously had an anti-fur policy until the appointment of former Grazia editor Reed, who took the role just one year ago.

Reed has stepped down from Harvey Nichols after campaigning by animal rights group over her reintroduction of fur products. When she was appointed as the fashion director of Harvey Nichols, the magazine style journalist was expected to bring a popular touch to the Knightsbridge department store known for its luxury brands and directional fashion collections.

She has, however, departed after scarcely a year following angry protests against her reintroduction of fur.
