Hema: best newcomer on the British Market

Dutch value retailer Hema was proclaimed as the best newcomer to enter UK market this year, by the UK Trade and Investment
(UKTI), after opening three stores in London earlier this year.The award is presented annually by the UKTI to companies and retailers which are seen by the trade organization as promising to the UK market. Hema previously opened three stores in London this June, one in Victoria Place, one in Kingston and one in Bromley as well as a local online store, www.hemashop.com.
“Expansion is an important part of our strategy,” said Ronald van Zetten, chief executive officer at Hema in a press release. According to the CEO, most Hema stores opened aboard are immediately embraced by the local clientèle. “The success to our formula is to create a simply special item by offering a unique price, perfect quality and innovative design, which has been well understood and received abroad. The UKTI award underlined that we are on the right track in the UK.”
