Belgian designer Bruno Pieters, founder of the sustainable and transparent fashion label,

Honest By, has launched a new scholarship for students studying for their masters, known as the FFDS: The Future Designer Scholarship.

“The FFDS is a dream that I've had ever since I launched Honest By 2 years ago and now we finally made time for it,” commented Pieters. “At Honest by we believe that the story behind the design needs to be as beautiful as the design itself. We are convinced that is crucial today to show appreciation and support those students who share this philosophy.”

The scholarship will offer financial support to one student who aims to create their MA collection in a sustainable and transparent way. This is the first grant of its kind, which is open to students from all over the world who are following a fashion or accessory design course.

The winner of the FFDS will receive 10,000 euros in cash to develop their collection, as well as personal mentoring from Bruno Pieters. Students can apply for the grant online at www.futurefashiondesignscholarship.com from 5 June to 25 August, 2014, with the winner being revealed in September.

“The FFDS wants to reward young independent minds who want to work in a progressive and responsible way,” added Pieters. “There are many student prizes today that encourage students to continue working in the existing fashion mould. True change can happen if we encourage students today to adopt a new and progressive fashion behaviour. That is what we want to do with the FFDS.”
