Iris van Herpen wins Andam prize

Dutch fashion designer Iris van Herpen has been named the winner of the 2014 Andam Fashion Award, beating off

competition from Fausto Puglisi, Steven Tai, Rad Hourani, Yiqing Yin, Études Studio, and Jean-Paul Lespagnard.

Van Herpen follows in the footsteps of previous Andam winners including Giles Deacon, Richard Nicoll, Gareth Pugh and most recently Alexandre Mattiussi of Ami. As winner she will receive 250,000 euros in prize money, as well as a mentoring from François-Henri Pinault, Kering chairman and CEO, for two consecutive seasons.

In addition, van Herpen will create an exclusive capsule collection for the TheCorner.com, will receive 10,000 euros worth of Swarovski crystals to be used in her collection, and sponsor Hudson’s Bay Company have pledged to buy her winning Spring/Summer 2015 collection.

Additionally, the 75,000 euros Andam First Collection prize was awarded to Coperni, beating off tough competition from Gauchère and Monographie.

Both winners also win a commercial and strategic mentorship by London, Paris and Milan-based distribution showroom Tomorrow London, and an exclusive space in Galeries Lafayette’s flagship store in Paris to present two collections.

Andam, the National Association for the Development of the Fashion Arts, was founded in 1989 by Nathalie Dufour and celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.
