Los Angeles-based denim maker J Brand has named fashion veteran Lynne Koplin as its new president, as the brand aims to boost

its wholesale business with larger product offering and plans to open its first standalone store.

Koplin, who previously was president at True Religion Apparel Inc, will be bringing her expertises as merchandiser and planner to help structure the LA company and expand its product range to include new items, such as women's T-shirts.

“It’s not just about sales and great product design; it’s about merchandising and planning the business effectively,” said Koplin to WWD. “I will also manage the sales team, both domestically and internationally.”

Jeff Rudes, who founded J Brand ten years ago before it was acquired by Japanese holding company Fast Retailing Co., will remain Chief Executive Officer. As CEO, Rudes will oversee design, marketing, public relations and finance.

“Retail is in our sights. When and where, we don’t know yet,” he revealed. “Men’s [sportswear] is in the future, absolutely. Accessories, of course.”
