JD Sports acquires Cloggs from administrators

JD Sports Fashion Plc. announced Wednesday the

acquisition of the business and assets of Cloggs Limited from its administrators for an undisclosed sum.

“We are very pleased to be supporting Cloggs. Its branded casual footwear offer includes many leading and famous brands and we look forward to investing in the development of the website and working with the brands to extend its offer,” Peter Cowgill, Executive Chairman of JD, said.

Founded in 1998, Cloggs is an online retailer of branded footwear based in Birmingham and catering brands including Ugg, Converse, Vans and Dr Martens. The business will continue to be based in Birmingham and the current management team is being retained, advanced the company in a statement released Wednesday after the market close.

Earlier this month, JD rescued athletic apparel brand Gio Goi from administrators, following the acquisition of Blacks Leisure chain out of administration in a 20 million pounds deal last year.
